How we write and review our health content

Articles about your health should be accurate, balanced and easy to check. This page explains who writes our content, how we review it and which sources we trust. Last updated 24 September 2026.

Who writes our content

Dentists on the Looma Dent team write our blog articles and treatment guides. Each article names its author at the top, with a link to their profile, qualifications and registration details.

We write for patients, not for other dentists. So we explain clinical terms in plain English and keep to what a patient needs to make an informed decision with their own dentist.

Medical review

Before we publish, a second dentist who did not write the article checks it. The reviewer confirms that each clinical statement matches its source, that the article is balanced and that it does not overstate benefits or understate risks.

The article shows the reviewer's name and the date of the last medical review. If an article is waiting for review, we do not publish it.

Sources we use

We base clinical statements on the best evidence we can find, in this order:

  • systematic reviews, meta-analyses and consensus reports from bodies such as the European Federation of Periodontology;
  • guidance from the NHS and UK professional bodies, such as the British Dental Association and the General Dental Council;
  • individual peer-reviewed studies, where no review exists.

Each article numbers its sources and links to them, so you can read them yourself. We do not use other clinics' websites, forums or marketing material as evidence.

What we don't publish

Health advertising in Turkey is regulated, and we also think patients deserve plain facts. So our articles do not include:

  • promises or guarantees about results, success rates or how long treatment will last;
  • claims that we are better or cheaper than other clinics;
  • patient testimonials or before-and-after photos presented as typical results;
  • prices, because a fair price depends on an examination.

We use stock and illustrative images, and we describe them as such. None of them show real patient results.

Keeping articles up to date

We review each article at least once a year, and sooner if new evidence or guidance appears. Every article shows when it was first published, last updated and last medically reviewed, together with a short update history.

Corrections

If you think something is wrong or out of date, please tell us through our contact page. A dentist will look at it, and if we change the article we note the correction in its update history.

Information, not a diagnosis

Our articles are general information for adults. They cannot replace an examination, a diagnosis or a treatment plan from a dentist who has seen you. Any plan we suggest online stays provisional until an in-person examination and imaging confirm it.
